Rhondda pub to sell TikTok craze snack, the Nacho Table, when it re-opens

We've had the '90s takeaway boxes, the giant kebab feasts and mega hot dogs - but a Rhondda pub is stealing the eye-popping food trend to another level with its nacho tables.

Though for now the Baglan Hotel B&B is serving weekly takeaways, chef Robert Miles is planning on doing the nacho tables when Welsh Government regulations allow indoor reopening.

The former Royal Navy chef, who has owned the Treherbert pub for the past two years, is also looking for 24 inch boxes to be able to recreate the giant nacho experience for customers at home.

Robert has taken the delicious Mexican snack and added his own twist, layering tortilla chips, chilli, cheese, jalapeños, more cheese sauce and olives, feta and sundried tomatoes and chopped chives, all layered on a completely foil-covered table.

Although Robert hadn't heard of the Nacho Table before the crunchy, cheesy dish was getting a lot of love on TikTok a few months ago.

"People do like nachos, let's go extreme nachos, let's do it on the table," Rob explained. "You've more control over the presentation and people are 'woah look at that!'

"I don't have TikTok, I don't use the internet that much, just Facebook. We've got a youngster at the pub and she might have sown the seed in my head.

"But we were out shopping yesterday and I decided to do something with the nachos!"

Rob took pictures of each individual stage of putting the stages together and is looking forward to chopping and changing the toppings including chicken and avocado and cream cheese and steak.

During lockdown The Baglan Hotel, like many other pubs and restaurants, has expanded on it's popular Sunday lunch takeaway offering and serves a varied takeaway menu including taco boxes, noodles, BBQ platters and Ploughman's Lunches and afternoon teas.

Customers have responded by asking Rob to put their names down for the tables, and as soon as he gets the boxes big enough, the meal will be available for takeaway.
