Retailer lined up to take over former H. Samuel shop in Kilmarnock

A retailer has been lined up to take over the former H. Samuel shop in Kilmarnock town centre.

Planning documents show that Ramsdens is behind a bid to set up in the King Street store.

The financial services retailer has lodged two separate applications to make changes to the prime high street unit.

The first one is to replace the existing shop front and the other to erect an illuminated sign within the shop.

East Ayrshire Council planners have approved both applications paving the way for the retailer to open at the former jewellery shop.

Ramsdens already has a store across the road on King Street.

Ayrshire Live contacted Ramsdens to clarify if the existing store will close when the new one opens but they've yet to respond to our request for comment.

H. Samuel closed at the height of the global pandemic in May 2020 with jewellery bosses confirming that the shop would not reopen after being forced to close due to the Covid crisis.
