'Rest easy now gorgeous boy' - tributes flood in for man, 20, found in woods

Tributes have poured in for a 20-year-old who was found dead hours after he was reported missing.

Ben Meah was found dead in woodland in Norton, Runcorn, near where he grew up on March 24. Police were called to the scene and Ben's body was found around 10am after he was reported missing at 2am.

Mum, Cindy Meah, 51, told the ECHO how her son was "cheeky and adventurous" and a sporty child when growing up.

However in recent years he had experienced mental health issues and having suffered increasing levels of fatigue, after falling ill and missing much of his last year of high school, this resulted in less contact with his friends which was then further exacerbated by lockdown.

Mum Cindy said Ben visited hospital two weeks before his death but claims no follow up appointment was made.

And now she wants to urge others who are struggling to come forward to seek help.

On Facebook many people were touched by Ben's death and left words of condolence.

Cindy added: “Ben’s story isn’t a new story, it’s an old story that keeps getting told over and over again and nothing changes.

“People have to keep talking.”

Ben’s funeral is at 2pm on Friday, April 21, at Walton Lea, near Warrington.
