Residents to be consulted over plans to bury rural power lines

Online consultation will be held next week on plans to put power lines near Killin underground.

SSEN Transmission wants to remove 7.8 km of overhead lines, including 31 pylons, between Killin substation and Lix Toll, with the cables being put underground instead.

The removed lines would include the most prominent section above Killin and the Falls of Dochart.

To present its proposals the company has developed an online consultation tool to enable the local community and other stakeholders to take part from home on a computer, tablet or mobile device while maintaining guidance on social distancing.

The online exhibition has been designed to look and feel like a real consultation in a community hall with exhibition boards, maps, interactive videos and the opportunity to share views on the proposals.

The virtual consultation events will take place on Thursday, July 2, from 10am-noon, 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

Electricity and gas markets regulator Ofgem administers a £500m fund to imrprove the appearance electricity infrastructure in scenic areas.
