One of the most popular video game franchises of all time is set to celebrate its 25th birthday in style with the release of a special Scotch whisky.
Resident Evil, known as Biohazard in Japan, is one of the best-selling survival horror games around.
The first Resident Evil was released in 1995 and captivated a generation of Playstation gamers, leading to a whole new category of gameplay.
Spanning over a quarter of a century, the series has had multiple sequels, a live-action film series, animated films, comic books, novels, and now has it's own commemorative whisky.
Created by Glenfarclas Distillery, one of the Speyside region's most popular, the new limited-edition whisky comes with a stylish wooden box stamped with the special anniversary and the game's Japanese name.
Like the game, it's been matured for 25 years and most interestingly comes in at cask strength (51.6% abv), meaning it hasn't been diluted to a lower strength before bottling.
One of the few remaining family-owned distilleries in Scotland, Glenfarclas, which is based at Ballindalloch in Banffshire, is one of the best selling single malt whiskies in the world.
Known for its limited editions and family cask releases, the Glenfarclas team are known for their excellent sherry cask whiskies.
The Resident Evil Scotch whisky will be available at select stores in Japan on July 21.
