A few players in the Vikings’ 2021 free agency class seem like they command too much money to keep. The top unrestricted free agents — S Anthony Harris and LB Eric Wilson — will both be hard for a cash-strapped Minnesota team to retain.
fwThe Vikings’ restricted free agents will at least be a little easier to re-sign, especially if the team wants to apply a tender.
One of those restricted free agents is WR Chad Beebe. According to a report from the Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling, Minnesota wants Beebe back on the team, but likely won’t place a RFA tender on him. The low tender is $2.1 million, so it makes sense that the Vikings wouldn’t want to pay Beebe that much.
Beebe showed flashes of being a decent option in the passing game. I don’t think he’s Minnesota’s solution for its wide receiver three role, but he’s a good option below that spot on the depth chart. I think it’d be fine if the team re-signed him to a cheap deal.
