Report: Thunder sign former Mavs, Hawks guard Antonius Cleveland

Just hours after waiving Zylan Cheatham, the Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly signed a new player.

The Thunder agreed to a deal with shooting guard Antonius Cleveland, Yahoo’s Keith Smith reported Wednesday night.

Cleveland, 26, has played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Atlanta Hawks since going undrafted in 2017.

During the 2017-18 season, he appeared in 13 games for the Mavericks and four for the Hawks. He averaged 7.2 minutes and 1.4 points per game that season.

He rejoined Dallas last season, averaging one point in 4.2 minutes per game over 11 appearances.

Cleveland spent the vast majority of the last two seasons in the G League. In 2018-19, he played 42 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors, where he averaged 11.2 points, five rebounds and two assists and shot 36% from 3.

In 2019-20, he played for the Texas Legends. In 36 games he averaged 14.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 49.6% from the field and 30.3% from deep.

Listed at 6-foot-5, Cleveland offers another option at the guard position. He takes a roster spot of Josh Gray or Zylan Cheatham, both of whom were acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in the Steven Adams trade but waived this week.
