Report: Texans set to work out rookie OL Brandon Hitner

After a back injury to starting right guard Zach Fulton, the Houston Texans are doing their due diligence to solidify their offensive line.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the Texans are set to work out free agent offensive lineman Brandon Hitner on Tuesday, following his visit with the Green Bay Packers on Monday.

After going undrafted out of Villanova this spring, Hitner landed with the Los Angeles Rams but didn’t make the final roster.

At 6 feet 6 and 305 pounds, Hitner has tackle size. He also has athleticism anyone can rave about. He put on a show at his 2019 pro day, recording a 32.5-inch vertical and 115.5-inch broad jump, which would put him in the top five for offensive linemen at the combine. Hitner recorded 23 bench-press reps and a 5.16-second 40-yard-dash as well.

The Texans are shallow at offensive line. Against the Carolina Panthers in Week 4, they carried just one backup: Roderick Johnson. Hitner may find himself as depth or an integral practice squad member.
