Report: Texans officially request permission to interview Nick Caserio

The Houston Texans are in hot pursuit of a new general manager, and the New England Patriots’ VP of Player Personnel, Nick Caserio, is one of the requested candidates for the job.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss and John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Houston has officially requested to interview Caserio, but are awaiting a response from the Patriots.

There are many ties to New England within the Texans organization. Head coach Bill O’Brien, who was a part of Patriots’ coaching staff from 2007-11, is playing a part in the interviewing process for the new GM. Jack Easterby, who was the character coach for New England the past six seasons, was recently promoted to executive VP in Houston and will also play a role in the interviewing process.

New England reportedly received Houston’s request to interview Caserio on Friday, but have yet to respond. It is likely the Patriots, more specifically Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft are weighing their options and possibly boiling up an offer for Caserio in the event that he does interview for the Texans’ job.
