Report: Rockets to sign guard Michael Frazier

The Houston Rockets are signing guard Michael Frazier from the G League.

Frazier, 24, won the league’s Most Improved Player honor this season, averaging 16.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game on 59.3% true shooting for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Frazier has nice size for a guard at 6’4″ and good outside shooting ability (38.1% from three-point range on 7.4 attempts per game). He’ll be an interesting developmental prospect for Houston over the next couple years and shows a lot of promise to be a serious NBA prospect.

The deal is likely a minimum deal and would only cost Houston a few thousand dollars considering there are only two games remaining in the season. It would have little to no effect at Houston’s pursuit of staying under the luxury tax this season.
