Report: Ravens working out QB Josh Johnson

The Baltimore Ravens are working out free agent quarterback Josh Johnson, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Johnson’s audition comes as an immediate response to Saturday’s practice, where Ravens backup quarterback Robert Griffin III sustained a thumb injury. Early reports indicate that Griffin will be sidelined for 4-8 weeks with a fractured right thumb, putting his availability for the season opener up in the air. Aside from Griffin, starter Lamar Jackson and rookie Trace McSorley are the only other quarterbacks on the team’s roster.

Johnson, 33, is a seasoned NFL journeyman. Over 11 seasons, Johnson has played for 13 NFL franchises. The Ravens are one of those many teams, as Johnson suited up as a member of Baltimore’s practice squad for a few months in 2015. Johnson last played for the Washington Redskins, whom he started three games for in 2018. Johnson completed 52 of 91 attempts for 590 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions over four games with the Redskins.
