Ravens to trade Joe Flacco to Broncos

The Baltimore Ravens found their trade partner for quarterback Joe Flacco. The Denver Broncos are reported to be trading for Flacco, though the deal cannot officially happen until the league year begins on March 13.

The details of the trade haven’t been reported, but it’s a deal that makes sense for both sides. The Broncos need a starting quarterback after a 6-10 season with Case Keenum under center. Denver still has a solid defense and weapons to give Flacco a real shot at winning games immediately. The Ravens save $10.5 million on their salary cap total for 2019 after committing to Lamar Jackson as their new starting quarterback.

The Broncos are in line to be on the hook for Flacco’s $18.5 million base salary in 2019, $20.25 million base salary in 2020 and $24.25 million base salary in 2021, according to Over The Cap — though the Ravens might eat some of that contract in the trade, or Denver could redo his deal.
