Report: Nick Bosa expected to play vs. Bengals

The 49ers should have their full slate of pass rushers Sunday in Cincinnati. There was some question as to whether rookie defensive end Nick Bosa would play after he sat out two days of practice with ankle soreness, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday night that Bosa would play for San Francisco.

The No. 2 overall pick injured his ankle in the lead up to the first preseason game, and sat out the rest of camp in an effort to be ready for Week 1. He played about 55 percent of the snaps against Tampa Bay, and looks to be in line for a similar role against the Bengals.

Cincinnati’s offensive line is badly banged up, especially at tackle. This should be an opportunity for the 49ers’ new edge rush to make a huge impact on the game. Bosa being in the rotation makes it much easier for San Francisco to take advantage of that matchup.
