Report: NFL, NFLPA to meet to discuss collective bargaining agreement

The NFL and NFLPA (Players Association) will soon be meeting to discuss the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

The two sides are hoping to secure a new deal by the start of the 2019 regular season, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

A negotiating session has been scheduled for July 17-19, the first time a consecutive three-day window has been on the books.

“Previous CBA talks b/w the NFL & NFLPA have been relatively agreeable, however the intention now is negotiations scheduled for July 17-19 will be the 1st time demands are presented on the biggest & potentially most contentious items, per source,” tweeted Anderson. “Case in Pt: It will get serious.”

Graziano notes there have already been three direct owner/player negotiation sessions so far, one in April, May and June.

The current CBA is set to expire after the 2020 season and undoubtedly both sides are hoping to come to an agreement without a work stoppage this time around.
