Report: New Orleans Pelicans have yet to be tested for COVID-19

While the number of NBA teams that have been tested for COVID-19 rises, the New Orleans Pelicans remain among the teams who have not.

As reported by ESPN’s Andrew Lopez, none of the traveling party for the Pelicans have shown symptoms of the virus. With testing hard to come by for many regular civilians, the Pelicans have opted to wait to save the tests for victims in need first.

This report goes in line with what JJ Redick said during his most recent podcast episode in which he said the team had not been tested.

The Pelican team likely saved itself from needing to be tested and likely quarantined by not taking the court last week. After the league announced its intention to suspend the league following last Wednesday’s games, New Orleans was made away of referee Courtney Kirkland’s exposure to Rudy Gobert and refused to take the floor.

Eventually, the game was called off and the Pelicans returned home to New Orleans. Kirkland would later test negative for the coronavirus, but it was a situation where everyone played it safe and rightfully so.
