Report: NBA veteran Denzel Valentine to join Maine Celtics of G League

The Boston Celtics will add an NBA veteran to their G League roster as a guy who could potentially help the big team at some point in the future. It is always good to have veterans who understand how the league works around as guys to count on.

Per Jay King of The Athletic, the Celtics are bringing in 5-year veteran Denzel Valentine to sign with their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics. Valentine has played in 24 games in the 2021-22 season split between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz and he averaged 2.9 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 40.4% from deep.

Valentine spent his first four seasons with the Chicago Bulls and he missed the entire 2018-19 season due to reconstructive ankle surgery. That then led to a tough 2019-20 season as he was unable to get out of then-coach Jim Boylen’s dog house. He now gets another opportunity with the Celtics to get his career on track again.
