Report: Meek Mill Texted Robert Kraft About Signing Lamar Jackson

News of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson's March 2 trade request shook the NFL Monday morning, as the 2019 MVP publicly aired his grievances with Baltimore's front office.

The ongoing intrigue around Jackson has led fans, writers and apparently at least one celebrity to share their thoughts on the situation. According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, rapper Meek Mill texted Patriots owner Robert Kraft and told him that Jackson wanted to play for New England.

"Kraft responded that would be [coach] Bill Belichick's decision," Breer tweeted Monday afternoon.

The Patriots, licking their wounds after missing the playoffs for just the fifth time this century, currently have quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe on their roster.

Mill, an Eagles fan whose song "Dreams and Nightmares" is closely associated with Philadelphia's Super Bowl LII victory, is a friend of Kraft's.

Jackson, taken 32nd overall by the Ravens in the 2018 draft, has reached two Pro Bowls with Baltimore but has struggled to stay healthy for a full season in recent years. His 1,206 rushing yards in the ’19 season are an all-time record for a quarterback.
