Report: Kyler Murray to meet with Redskins ahead of NFL Draft

Ahead of the NFL Draft, the top handful of players tend to make their rounds across the country, stopping off at various training facilities to meet and talk with teams who might consider picking them.

It’s easy to get excited when you hear that your team is meeting with one of the top players. For instance, according to The MMQB’s Albert Breer, assumed No. 1 pick Kyler Murray is scheduled to meet with the Washington Redskins next week.

Now, in reality, the only way that the Redskins could have a chance at drafting Murray is if they were to trade up to the No. 1 overall pick, as approximately 99% of mock drafts have him going there. If you know anything about how Washington operates, then you know that the chances this happens are slim-to-none.

When you consider the other teams that Murray has already met with this offseason — including the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals — it’s more than likely that Washington is scheduling this meeting just to cover their bases.

While the Redskins are desperate to find a long-term answer at quarterback, the price they would have to pay for an under-sized Murray is astronomical.

Instead of getting jazzed that Murray is stopping off in D.C. to meet with the Washington front office, accept it for what it is; checking the pre-draft boxes to say that you evaluated the top pool of talent.

Kyler Murray is not going to Washington, no matter how much fun it is to think about it.
