Report: Jets hiring Rex Hogan as assistant general manager

Jets general manager Joe Douglas has found his right-hand man.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are hiring Colts vice president of player personnel Rex Hogan to be their assistant general manager.

Hogan was actually on Mike Maccagnan’s staff from 2015-2017 as the director of college scouting. He left after the 2017 NFL draft when the Colts offered him the job as the VP of player personnel. Previously, he was a scout with the Bears for 12 years as both a college and national scout. So, Douglas went to Chicago just as Hogan left for the Jets.

Hogan played a pivotal role with the Colts as he helped turn them into a playoff team after being one of the league’s worst teams for a couple seasons. Now, Hogan will help the Jets get out of their eight-year playoff drought.

Douglas now has his assistant general manager, director of player personnel Chad Alexander, and a senior adviser in Phil Savage lined up.
