Report: Giants’ Sterling Shepard will miss ‘considerable time’ with concussion

New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is back in concussion protocol after displaying symptoms for the second time in three weeks. As a result, he will not only miss a Thursday night game against the New England Patriots, but could miss “considerable time” on top of that.

Shepard apparently suffered the concussion in the third quarter of a Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but was cleared on the sidelines and returned to the game.

On Monday morning, Shepard reported the symptoms to team doctors and was immediately placed back into league protocol.

Not only is this the second concussion sustained by Shepard this year, but at least the fifth of his playing career — he suffered one at Oklahoma and two in High School.

Shepard also missed two games during the 2017 regular season with migraines, but at the time, that was not deemed concussion-related.

Given Shepard’s long-standing brain and head-related issues, you can bet team physicians intend to be extra vigilant this time around — especially considered the wide receiver has now twice returned to a game this season with a concussion.
