With three games remaining and just four wins, the Atlanta Falcons don’t have much incentive to play injured wide receiver Julio Jones again this season.
While it might seem like a no-brainer to shut Jones down and let him heal up for next year, it sounds like the veteran play-maker has other plans. According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jones wants to try and get back on the field over the final two weeks.
That’s not all, though, as Rapoport went on to say Jones had a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection, which he hopes will help him get back before the conclusion of the 2020 season.
“In fact, Jones received a platelet-rich plasma injection into his balky hamstring following a loss to the Saints in early December, a procedure aimed to accelerate the healing in the area that’s given him problems all season. It’s also a strong sign that he wants to be on the field again.”
Why would Jones want to come back? Taking the safe approach would ensure he’s healthy for next season, but Jones has always been a team-first guy and probably feels some obligation to try and get out there.
We will see how close he gets to returning in Week 16 when Atlanta takes on the Kansas City Chiefs.
