Report: Eagles give Blake Countess contract extension after restructuring his deal

Whether it’s insurance for Malcolm Jenkins or locking up a quality player, the Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly restructured safety Blake Countess contract, while giving him an extension as well. According to Reuben Frank of NBCSports Philadelphia, the Eagles have extended Countess’ contract through the 2020 season. The two sides also reportedly agreed on a lower salary for the 2019 season.

Countess was set to make $2.025 million after signing his restricted free agent tender with the Rams. LA subsequently released him, the Eagles claimed Countess off waivers and absorbed that contract in the process.

Countess was a key special teams player for the Rams and could be counted on for more depending on what happens with Jenkins and Rodney McLeod.
