Report: Dede Westbrook expected to sit out vs. Texans

While the Houston Texans will be dealing with some injuries within their secondary, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be dealing with some at receiver. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, receiver Dede Westbrook is expected to sit out for the team’s international battle against their longtime divisional rivals. This news comes after veteran receiver Marqise Lee was placed on injured reserve just four days ago.

The decision to sit Westbrook was one we expected after the team promoted Michael Walker from their practice squad on Saturday.

Westbrook initially surfaced on the injury report with the injury on the Thursday before the Jags’ Week 7 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, however, he was able to play and finish the game against them. He once again surfaced on the injury report before the Jags’ game against the New York Jets, but exited that game early.

On the bright side, the Jags will at least have their No. 1 and No. 2 receivers in terms of statistics in DJ Chark (660 yards) and Chris Conley (429 yards). Both are coming off a game in which they found the end-zone against the Jets — and in Conley’s case — it was his best game statically as a Jaguar as he registered just over 100 yards with four catches.

The Jags also have third-year receiver Keelan Cole behind Westbrook, who has found the end-zone in both of the Jags’ last two games.
