Report: Chargers signing CB Ryan Smith

The Chargers are building their special teams unit.

Los Angeles is signing former Buccaneers cornerback Ryan Smith to a one-year deal, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

The deal is worth $1.75 million.

A fourth-round pick of the 2016 NFL draft, Smith spent five seasons with Tampa Bay, appearing in 73 games.

Smith started in all games in 2017 and 2018. However, the majority of his snaps came on special teams the past two seasons.

He has 117 tackles, an interception, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. In 2019, he led the team with a team-high seven stops on special teams.
