Report: Bengals set to interview Giants’ Lou Anarumo for defensive coordinator

Zac Taylor and the Cincinnati Bengals have yet another potential defensive coordinator target.

After publicly struggling to nail down Taylor’s preferred list of names and saying there is no timetable on a hiring, the Bengals have a Thursday meet with another candidate, according to a new report:

Lou Anarumo and Taylor spent some time together in Miami, where the former got his first experience as a pro coach.

Now with the New York Giants as a defensive backs coach, Anarumo did serve as interim defensive coordinator with the Dolphins in 2015.

This news comes on the heels of the Bengals failing to reel in Florida’s Todd Grantham and getting denied a chance to interview Ohio State’s Jeff Hafley, to name a few of the developments. Taylor also decided Jack Del Rio wasn’t a good fit and didn’t get a chance to interview another notable veteran coach like Dom Capers.

If it ends up being Anarumo, it will align well with the younger, unproven theme of Taylor’s staff.
