Replacing Joe Thomas remains a top priority for the Browns

The 2019 NFL Draft is 73 days away as of Feb. 11, and the Cleveland Browns are looking to replace their own No. 73. Legendary left tackle Joe Thomas still doesn’t have a permanent successor at the critical spot along the Cleveland offensive line.

Greg Robinson fared pretty well in pass protection in 2018, but the one-time Rams draft bust is a free agent and remains a substandard run blocker. Undrafted rookie Desmond Harrison played like his draft status and has no real future as a starter unless he adds significant strength, a process that isn’t likely to happen overnight.

It’s the biggest hole on the offense, one that must get filled one way or another this offseason.

The draft is certainly one option, and the Browns’ first-round choice at No. 17 could offer the solution with prospects like Yodny Cajuste or Jawaan Taylor. Free agent options include bringing back Robinson, or luring a veteran bandage like Ty Nsekhe or Trent Brown.

No matter how the hole gets filled, whoever takes over in No. 73’s old position has some very big shoes to fill even a year after the future Hall of Famer retired.
