Reo Hatate injury update as Yang Celtic absence addressed by Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has revealed Reo Hatate misses out for Celtic against Hibernian due to injury.

The midfielder was subbed off in the second half of the Europa League draw with Crvena zvezda.

Rodgers had warned there was a question mark over whether the player would feature in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

And he won't be involved against Hibs through a possible hamstring knock - but Rodgers is hopeful the midfielder won't face a lengthy time on the sidelines.

Quizzed on the Japan internationalist, Rodgers said: "Reo, yeah, we hope it won't be too long for him."

Winger Yang is another notable absentee from the team sheet at Celtic Park, however, he is not injured.

Rodgers confirmed the forward misses out as part of freshening up the squad and to allow Johnny Kenny to be named on the bench.

"No, no, nothing just to freshen the squad," Rodgers told the BBC when asked about Yang's absence.

"Obviously, with the two guys starting, we may need another striker to come off the bench so Johnny comes in, Daizen plays and then we have another couple of wingers on there in James [Forrest] and Bali [Michel-Ange Balikwisha].

"So he just misses out this week.

"Johnny comes in, he has been training well and can effect the game."

Confirmed Celtic starting XI: Schmeichel, Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Saracchi, McGregor, McCowan, Engels, Maeda, Tounekti, Iheanacho.

Subs: Sinisalo, Nygren, Balikwisha, Kenny, Bernardo, Murray, Forrest, Donovan, Tierney.
