Renters outraged by 'overcrowded' shared room with three bunkbeds in Dublin city centre

Renters have been left "flabbergasted" after spotting a shared room for three people with three bunkbeds for rent in Dublin city centre.

The property, located on Pearse Street in Dublin 2, has three bunkbeds in one room, and is located in close proximity to Trinity College with Luas connections nearby and Pearse Train Station.

According to the listing posted on Rent.ie, the three bunk beds in the room all have metal framing and a small ladder allowing people to reach the top bunk. There are single mattresses and bedding on all beds, as well as wardrobes and long curtains in the wooden-floored room.

According to the listing, which was first posted on October 10, renters would have to pay €650 per month for the shared room. The ad reads: "Shared room in a fully furnished City Centre house available immediately. The room is for three people. Price is €650 per month per person for one year."

Taking to social media, one person shared the listing and was shocked at the price of a bed in the room. They said: "€650 a month for a bunk bed. How can this be lived in long term it's way too overcrowded?"

Another person said: "This is crazy to see so many bunkbeds crammed into one room! Totally overcrowded. I'm flabbergasted that the accommodation crisis has come to this and that students are especially desperate enough to consider it."

A third commented: "God this is beyond awful ….. why aren’t the government building social housing?" A fourth commented: "Very crowded room, I know I wouldn't be comfortable in it."

Last month, a 'very comfortable' couch in a Dublin living room was being listed on Airbnb for €50 per night. The listing was by the same man who had a tent available for rent earlier this week at the back of the same property, according to the Irish Examiner

Dublin Live has contacted Rent.ie and the private owner of the property on Pearse Street for comment.
