Renée Zellweger has shared her thoughts about a potential fourth Bridget Jones film.
Appearing on The Talk, the 50-year-old actor was asked by co-host Sheryl Underwood whether she’d be willing to reprise her role as the loveable Brit and where she’d see the character now.
“’Bridget Jones: The Menopause,” Zellweger joked. “No, I know Helen’s [Fielding] written the book, and I love this character. So, I mean, if they call me, I’ll go running.”
Fielding’s Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, published in 2013, has yet to be adapted to screen, with 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby drawing from her columns for The Independent.
Sharon Maguire, who directed Bridget Jones’s Baby, had previously said that she was keen to explore further stages of Bridget’s life, having seen her date the wrong man, marry the seemingly right one and have a mystery father’s baby so far.
“There are loads of chapters in Bridget’s life we haven’t had,” she said. “We haven’t had Bridget and the menopause, we haven’t had Bridget and the school run.”
Zellweger stars in the forthcoming Netflix drama What/If, released on 24 May, and will also portray Hollywood icon Judy Garland in the biopic Judy.
