James Bond stuntman Rémy Julienne has died at the age of 90 after contracting Covid-19.
The talented movie star, who worked on hits including GoldenEye and For Your Eyes Only, died after a battle with coronavirus.
He had been hospitalised in the French town of Montargis and taken into intensive care where he had been put on a ventilator earlier this month.
A relative of Rémy has since confirmed that the French stuntman had passed away after battling the virus
"What was bound to happen has happened. He left us early in the evening (Thursday). It was predictable, he was on a respirator," his relative said.
Rémy was known to have contributed to over 1,400 films and TV shows throughout his incredible career.
He had also worked on six James Bond films and with a host of famous actors.
A representative for Rémy also confirmed the heartbreaking news on the stuntman's official social media page.
"It is with a heavy heart, with infinite sadness, that we announce that Rémy left us on the night of January 21, 2021," the translation reads.
"Rémy was passionate and he lived passionately. Competitions on film sets, thrills in hellish pace at a frantic pace.
The tribute continues: "Yesterday, he still had plans in his head. The ambition to raise the waterfall to the rank of Art, to highlight men in the shadows. The desire to be useful and to pass on his experience.
"Rémy loved life. He wanted to live. He fought to the end. His body has left us but it will remain in our hearts forever," the post continued.
Born in Cepoy, France in 1930, Rémy was a keen motorcross racer before he fell into the film industry.
In 1964, he made his stuntman debut when he starred as the double for French actor Jean Marais in which he was required to drive a motorbike.
Within an adventurous career that has spanned over five decades, Remy went on to double for some of Hollywood's most well known stars such as Roger Moor and Sean Connery.
His work usually involved terrifying high-speed chases in electrifying scenes.
Other work has also featured Rémy hanging from a rope-ladder out of a helicopter and numerous car collisions.
Tributes have already come in for the late stuntman, as the film industry reflected on his iconic work.
"I think you will agree that he was unmatched in the world of stunt driving for film in terms of his invention and flare for glorious vehicular destruction. A 007 GREAT #RemyJulienne" wrote one Twitter profile.
Another wrote: "He was more than a stunt coordinator, he made the impossible possible. He was a true artist, cars were his paint brushes, and the closed roadways were his canvas."
