Regis Prograis plans to make history in Josh Taylor unification clash

History buff Regis Prograis is ready to write his name into boxing legend against Josh Taylor.

The American and the Scot will put their respective super-lightweight world titles on the line on Saturday in the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

And Prograis believes victory in London will catapult him into stardom.

"When they said it was going to be in London I thought it was a perfect opportunity," he said.

"It's a way bigger fight over here than in America. I always wanted to fight in the UK because of the fans

"I'm a historian; we went to the Churchill War Rooms and we saw Buckingham Palace.

"I have almost three homes; I'm from New Orleans, I moved to Houston and now I live in Los Angeles so I'm getting love from all the cities.

"My home is New Orleans and I can't walk nowhere on the street without someone noticing who I am.

"I feel like after this it will be worldwide, this will take me to superstardom.

"This is the fight that will make me, that's why I jumped at the opportunity to come here.

"I'm going to make my history in London."

Prograis and Taylor will clash 10 days after Patrick Day passed away due to injuries suffered in his defeat by Charles Conwell.

And the visitor admits he has questioned his role in the sport - but believes his ability saves him from its darkest danger.

"If people don't know about boxing, it's almost becoming a normal thing; just look at this past year to see the fighters who have passed away.

"Sometimes I do think how dangerous this sport is, the point of this sport is to hurt your opponent, it's nothing else.

"You can try to out-box them but the point of professional boxing is to hurt your opponent, it's like no other sport.

"But I’m so good at it so when I question why I do it, I know why because I'm so good."
