Referee with Leeds United history appointed for Luton Town clash

Leeds United are quickly back in action this week, when Marcelo Bielsa's side hosts Luton Town at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

The Whites will be looking to pick up some momentum following Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham when they welcome Nathan Jones' relegation-threatened Hatters to West Yorkshire.

Leeds begin the midweek slate of matches three points clear at the top and eight points ahead of in-form Brentford in third and they know that a win will further boost their promotion credentials.

The EFL have confirmed their referee appointments for this week's matches, with John Brooks being named as the man in the middle for the Tuesday night clash.

Brooks took charge of the reverse fixture at Kenilworth Road back in November, where Bielsa's men needed an injury time own goal to seal a 2-1 win over the Hatters.

Before that he took charge of Leeds' visit to Charlton Athletic in September, the match in which the incident between Kiko Casilla and Johnathan Leko took place, which resulted in the United goalkeeper being handed an eight-match ban for using racial language.

Leeds lost that match 1-0, which was the third match on row they had lost with Brooks overseeing.

The Leicestershire ref took charge of the 2-0 defeat to Hull in December 2018 which ended a seven-match winning streak, with the other of the four Leeds matches he has officiated being the 2-1 loss at Norwich in April 2018.
