Reece James and the five Chelsea youngsters that could benefit from the two-window embargo

There is a lot to be made of Chelsea's two-window transfer embargo.

FIFA have been investigating the Blues over the registration of young players and announced in February that the west London outfit won't be able to register any new players in the next two transfer windows as a punishment.

The latest development is that Chelsea have confirmed that they will launch an appeal against the punishment from FIFA, releasing a statement on their website shortly after the decision was made public.

This coming Thursday marks an important day as the club will learn their fate at a FIFA hearing.

Despite the appeal, Roman Abramovich might not be quite as willing to spend millions in the summer transfer window so the Blues could look to their 42-man 'Loan Army' to really boost the numbers ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

But who are the unearthed gems in the system that could really thrive under Sarri and where would they fit in?

Mason Mount - The left of the three in midfield

There is a lot of excitement about Mason Mount and what he might bring to Chelsea after he finishes his latest loan spell with Derby County.

The 20-year-old had a decent spell on loan at Vitesse before really hitting the Championship running with a good run of goals and assists to help them to become play-off contenders this season.

The Blues are currently rotating Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley & Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the left on the three in midfield.

However, Mount certainly has the ability to play there in Sarri's system and could be the playmaker that would fit in perfectly.

How Chelsea's transfer ban appeal will affect Christian Pulisic, Gonzalo Higuain & Mateo Kovacic

Tammy Abraham - Striker

Chelsea brought in Gonzalo Higuain on loan until the end of the season, and Maurizio Sarri has said that he's keen to sign the striker on a permanent basis despite his struggles in front of goal.

There has also been a hint that Olivier Giroud's contract will be extended, but with Alvaro Morata set to leave on a permanent basis, another striker would be welcome and Tammy Abraham would be a good option.

Abraham had a difficult spell at Swansea City last season, but he is once again excelling in the Championship on loan at Aston Villa, currently one of the leading scorers across the entire division with 23 goals to his name.

The 21-year-old deserves his chance to get a shot in the Chelsea first team and if he can keep up this form until the end of the campaign, get a good pre-season in then he surely has to be in with an opportunity.

Reece James - Right-back

The right-back position could be something of a concern for Sarri in the future and the Blues have been linked with Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj for the past two windows.

Meanwhile, Cesar Azpilicueta isn't getting any younger and Davide Zappacosta isn't overly trusted by Sarri, so it is a position that needs to be looked at in the summer.

The Blues have two very talented right-backs on loan in Reece James and Ola Aina. The latter is wanted by Torino on a permanent basis which could well be done at the end of the campaign.

However, James is excelling at Wigan Athletic and delighted Blues fans with a goal against Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

He could get the chance to show what he can do and that would be preferable for Chelsea than sending him out for another loan spell.

Trevoh Chalobah - Jorginho back-up

It has been a very difficult season for Ipswich as they sit bottom of the Championship, while Trevoh Chalobah has been learning more of a midfield role this season.

One of Sarri's wanted targets in January was a back-up to Jorginho when Cesc Fabregas left the club for Monaco, however the Italian didn't get his man.

Chalobah, however, is good in both the defensive way and also comfortable on the ball, the sort of player that could fit nicely into the role.

Sarri has kind of shown his hand when it comes to whether he trusts youngsters in his squad, with Ethan Ampadu getting a tryout in the Jorginho role, but then being replaced by Kovacic.

However, Chalobah could fit there and the 19-year-old signed a new deal that keeps him at the Blues until 2021.

The 4 returning loan stars who can save Chelsea from their transfer ban

Jay Dasilva - Left-back

Sarri has had a few issues in the left-back position with both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri not really cutting it right now.

Both players have had some troubles, especially with balls in behind that are leaving the Blues exposed at the back and a lot of players are enjoying freedom on that wing.

A review over who the number one left-back for the future will be is something that might well happen this summer and Jay Dasilva could be one of those to return.

The 20-year-old is on loan at Bristol City, who do have an option to buy in the deal, but the Blues could be persuaded to give him a shot.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - winger

This is an obvious one. Should Eden Hazard leave for Real Madrid in the summer then the Blues will need a replacement and a transfer ban greatly affects them doing so immediately.

It's a good thing they've already tied up a deal for Christian Pulisic and it's also handy that Hudson-Odoi is already on the books and has made big strides in the few first-team opportunities he's been given this season.

However, the problem is that his future is far from set in stone.

Out of contract at the end of next season and also attracting interest from Bayern Munich, this summer is shaping up to be very interesting.

The Blues must do everything within their power to tie Hudson-Odoi down to a new deal and the promise of not being able to sign a ready-made player for his position just might be the key in doing so.
