Redskins fans land dead last in new fanbase rankings

Washinton Redskins fans don’t emerge well in a new take on NFL fanbase rankings.

Which is a nice way to put it, really — the Redskins’ fanbase comes in 32nd out of 32 spots.

The new rankings come from Bleacher Report’s Mike Tanier:

In fairness to the few remaining true Skins loyalists (as opposed to the angry cranks who have glommed onto a political argument), they’re stuck with a dysfunctional franchise with problematic branding and a stadium that has all the charm and luxury of an abandoned strip mall. It’s a wonder so many fans still care at all. Just not enough fans to keep them out of last place on this list.

To be fair, the rankings come a season removed from fans understandably refusing to fill the stadium and those in attendance getting quickly annoyed when the team started to struggle.

Players like Josh Norman weren’t too happy the home-field advantage wasn’t anything but, though sometimes a fanbase has to make its point across to front offices any way it can.

In time, the Redskins fanbase might be viewed in a better light. But that takes the front office getting the message and giving fans what they want too, so fans aren’t alone in the quest to get out of the cellar in these sorts of rankings.
