Redskins address CB problem in new 2019 NFL mock draft

The Washington Redskins have plenty of problems to address in the 2019 NFL draft.

Cornerback is predictably one of those and a new mock draft has them attempting to solve the issue with Byron Murphy out of Washington at 15th overall.

The mock comes from Luke Easterling of Draft Wire, who writes the following:

15. Washington Redskins | Byron Murphy | CB | Washington

The trade for Alex Smith cost Washington their top cover man in Kendall Fuller, and they desperately need to fill the void he left behind. Murphy may not have the big frame some look for in a top corner, but his combination of instincts, intelligence and ball skills more than makes up for it.

While the Redskins could attack quarterback or something else, getting one of the draft’s top corners — a premium position — isn’t a bad way to go.

Not only did the Redskins lose Fuller in the Smith trade, Josh Norman could head for a decline quickly.

Murphy won’t be a perfect instant starter, but a superb front seven will make his life much easier than the average rookie cornerback.
