Scotland has a lot of great things going for it, and a recent Reddit thread sprung up asking people what we have up here that our neighbours in England don't.
The answers were a fascinating insight into the differences between the two countries and showed that sometimes, we do have it just that little bit better up here.
And sometimes, we have it worse - one particular Highland terror and Scotland's most fearsome natural predator (the midge) being a perfect example.

The good
Tablet – Everybody's favourite treat from your grannies.
Lorne sausage/Square Sausage/Slice - whatever you call it, it fits perfectly on a morning roll and is the best breakfast around.

Macaroni pies - Scottish fusion food at its finest.
Scotch pies - The ultimate Scottish comfort food.
Free prescriptions - u/Kspence92 said: "This is definitely something we all take for granted. The very concept of paying for any kind of medicine or healthcare is alien to Scots. I don't think we realise how lucky we are sometimes."
Amazing tap water - u/Orsenfelt added: "Water that doesn't slowly entomb all your kitchen appliances in rock."
Free university tuition - Further education for everyone.
Butteries - Scots from the North East always miss these when they leave Scotland.
Tattie scones - (Though apparently these are known as 'potato cakes' down south).
Free sanitary products - u/droptheshovel said: "You wouldn't believe the improvement it makes for certain groups in society."

The Bad
Midges - as u/Suspicious_Plan3394 said: "As an Englishman I think god created Scotland, realised he’d made it too beautiful so made the weather sh*t in the winter and the moment it’s nice made midges come out."
A curfew on buying booze in shops - u/yarders1991 wrote: "This does my head in. Can understand no sales before 10am but none after 10pm is mildly annoying. Surely they could at least push it to midnight?"
The Surprising
Empire biscuits - u/Doobots posted: "The shock I had when I found out London Gregg's didn't have this nor pineapple cakes!"
The infamous pizza crunch - Described as "to die for"
Well fired rolls - u/Brownie_of_Blednoch said: "Well fired rolls. It actually made the papers when they tried to sell burnt rolls in England."
Space - u/ewenmax said: "There are 281 English folk per square kilometre. Up here we're sitting at 70 folk per square kilometre."
The word 'outwith' - Why wouldn't you want to use this word? It's so useful!
