Second half goals from Kealia Watt and Makenzy Doniak gave the Red Stars their first win of the NWSL season, 2-0 over Kansas City.

Watt nailed the first goal in the 65th minute, sending a pass from Mallory Pugh into the net to give the Red Stars a 1-0 lead.

Doniak scored five minutes later off a pass from Pugh to make it 2-0.

Pugh, a second-half substitution, had 19 touches, 11 total passes, and a passing percentage of 66.7% in the opposing half. Watt’s score was her first official regular season goal as a member of the Red Stars after scoring in last year’s Challenge Cup and Fall Series. She also totaled 20 touches, a tackle, and won back possession three times after entering the game.
