Red Arrows confirmed for summer display at Weston Air Festival 2019 before US tour

The world-famous Red Arrows have been secured for this year's Weston Air Festival.

The iconic flying team will be showcasing their all-new 2019 display routine above the shores of Weston, as one of only a handful of Red Arrows displays in the UK this year.

For the first time in more than a decade, the famous Red Hawk Fast Jets will be heading to the USA, which will see them display at several stateside air shows.

This means they will not be doing as many UK shows this year, but their appearance in Weston-super-Mare has been confirmed.

When will the air festival take place?

Organisers have confirmed the free two-day festival will take place over June 22 to 23.

Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to Weston-super-Mare's seafront to witness the aerial entertainment.

Weston Air Festival 2018 was the most successful to date, drawing in record crowds of 200,000 and offering air show fans a world class programme of display aircraft including the world famous Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the iconic Douglas C-47 Skytrain.

Russ Currie, leisure manager at North Somerset Council said: “Last year we were blessed with a weekend of amazing weather and even better displays.

Emily Eavis speaks out on Glastonbury Festival's 'male dominated' culture

"It was a joy to watch the likes of the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Mustang and more soaring across the seafront.

“It’s events like the air festival that firmly place North Somerset on the map and make it a great place to live and visit and we have no doubt the 2019 event will continue to position North Somerset as a destination of choice.”

As well as a weekend of outstanding entertainment in the sky, Weston Air Festival offers air show fans the chance to enjoy a whole host of family-friendly fun along the seafront and Beach Lawns and once again incorporates the town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations.

The event village will feature exhibition stands, food stalls, family activities and fairgrounds, as well as the chance to meet RAF crews up close and personal.

Air displays and further ground entertainment for Weston Air Festival will be confirmed over the coming months, to keep up to date with news and information see the official Weston Air Festival website or follow the event on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook @WestonAirFest.
