Nottinghamshire County Council has confirmed that Calverton Recycling Centre has now reopened after the blaze started on Thursday, July 2.

The council closed off the centre after the fire started, at around 1.20pm, with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service putting out the blaze.

A fire service spokesperson confirmed the fire was at the recycling centre.

The fire service said: "Arnold and Blidworth attended a large skip fire accessed from Hollinwood Lane, Calverton.

"Fire extinguished using two hose reel jets and one main jet.

"The incident closed at 2.52pm."

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire County Council added: "We can confirm that the fire at Calverton Recycling Centre is now out and that the site is back open.

"Thank you to Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for their swift action."
