Rechargeable shaver sold in Ireland urgently recalled over 'electrocution' fears

A rechargeable shaver sold in Ireland has been recalled over fears a fault in the product may lead to an "electric shock and possible electrocution."

The Kemei Rechargeable Shaver has been withdrawn from sale due to the safety issue.

It's believed the top of the plug of the product, which has model number of KM-2801, can be easily removed which will expose live parts.

A statement from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said: "It has been reported that 'when attempting to remove the plug from a socket, the top of the casing can be easily removed exposing live parts.

"'It is possible to touch these parts causing an electric shock and possible electrocution.'"

It added: "If you believe you have purchased an affected product, please discontinue the use of the product immediately and contact your retailer."

It's understood the product originates from China and is widely sold online.
