Arsenal fans baffled by Nelson decision
Arsenal supporters were shocked yesterday by Reiss Nelson's involvement in the club's Under-23s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League 2.
Nelson, who has spent time on loan at German club Hoffenheim in the past, was heavily linked with leaving the Emirates Stadium towards the latter stages of the January transfer window in the hope of securing more first-team football until the end of the season.
However, he was kept by Arsenal, suggesting that he would get more regular chances under Mikel Arteta between now and the end of the campaign. That, though, has not proven to be the case, with the winger featuring for the Under-23s to maintain a solid level of fitness.
The news of him starting for the Under-23s yesterday soon sparked a reaction from several Gunners fans, who quickly slammed Arteta for the decision, suggesting it is not a good look for the club's younger players, while others questioned whether it could have a knock-on effect on the Gunners' hopes of persuading Folarin Balogun to sign a new deal with the club.

Madrid make Odegaard decision
Real Madrid still see attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard as a key fixture within their long-term plans, despite allowing him to join Arsenal on loan last month.
Odegaard had struggled to cement himself in Zinedine Zidane's plans at the Bernabeu earlier this season, prompting Madrid to allow him to leave on loan for the remainder of the season.
But despite having admitted that he would be open to joining Arsenal on a permanent basis if the opportunity arose, the north London club's hopes of keeping hold of the midfielder appear to have been dashed, with Madrid keen to integrate him into their plans next season.
Whilst Odegaard has not figured in Madrid's plans this season, they believe he will return to the Spanish capital in a much better condition after earning a consistent run of games in England.
At the age of just 22, it is fair to say that he still has the best years of his career ahead of him, and he is predicted to only get better.

Gunners eye Latics ace
According to a report by the Mirror, Arsenal have joined Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers in the race to sign highly-rated Wigan Athletic striker Kyle Joseph.
The youngster, who has made the breakthrough to the League One club's first-team this season is out-of-contract at the DW Stadium this summer and is not poised to extend his stay, meaning he would be free to leave the club.
Although Wigan would not be entitled to a transfer fee, they would be entitled to a compensation package because of the striker's age.
Joseph, who is only 19-years-old, has scored five goals and registered one assist in 14 League One appearances this season.
