Real Madrid Champions League squad for Liverpool confirmed with five major absentees

Real Madrid have confirmed their 21-man squad that will travel to Merseyside for their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool.

The Reds are due to welcome Los Blancos to Anfield on Wednesday night, with Jurgen Klopp’s men facing an uphill task to reach the semi-final.

Liverpool trail 3-1 from the first leg in the Spanish capital, with Mohamed Salah scoring what could be a vital away goal.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have been hampered with injuries for much of the campaign, just like Liverpool, and their latest squad announcement confirms yet another blow.

Makeshift right-back Lucas Vazquez suffered an injury in the El Clasico win over Barcelona, and looks to miss the remainder of the season.

Real’s latest squad announcement confirms that Vazquez, as well as a number of other players miss out.

Raphael Varane is still out after being diagnosed with Covid-19, while club captain Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal are also absent with injury.

There is also no place for Eden Hazard, with the former Chelsea forward still recovering from an ankle problem.
