'Real competition' as Nick Pope becomes Newcastle's second summer signing

Newcastle United supporters believe there's now real competition for Martin Dubravka after the Magpies completed the signing of Nick Pope for an undisclosed fee from Burnley. The England international pens a four-year deal with Newcastle following the Clarets' relegation to the Championship.

Pope himself admits that the speed in which the deal came about surprised him but was more than happy to take the next step in his career. It's seen as quite the coup from Newcastle who have wasted no time this summer in getting two solid signings over the line.

Speaking after signing for the Magpies, Pope said: "Now I'm here, I can't wait to get started. The deal has taken a couple of weeks to come to fruition but it got over the line really quickly, and I'm delighted to be here and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into it."
