Reading and Leeds festivals postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus

Reading and Leeds festivals have both been cancelled amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The two major events, which were set to take place on the bank holiday weekend of August 28-30, are the latest dates to be scrubbed off this summer’s festival calendar.

Liam Gallagher, Stormzy and Rage Against The Machine had been set to headline.

In a statement, festival organisers said: “We’ve been closely monitoring the situation and we were hopeful we could deliver the ultimate festival to you in August, something to look forward to in these strange and confusing times.

“However, it has become clear that it’s just not possible for this year’s festival to go ahead.”

It means the two festivals follow the likes of Glastonbury, Download, Isle of Wight festival and countless other music events forced into postponement this summer.

Organisers confirmed that Reading and Leeds would return for 2021, taking place across the same bank holiday weekend. Tickets bought for this summer will remain valid, while refunds will also be available.
