RB Leipzig open to loan deal for Tyler Adams as move to Leeds United becomes ‘fair possibility’

Leeds United target Tyler Adams could be allowed to leave RB Leipzig on loan this summer, according to the Athletic , with reports claiming there is a ‘fair possibility’ of the midfielder moving to Elland Road. Adams is one of several central midfielders being monitored as the club look to replace Kalvin Phillips, who is set for Manchester City.

The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at Leipzig under Domenico Tedesco, making 12 starts in the Bundesliga last season and just five since the turn of the year. He is open to a move away from the German club after four seasons, and the Athletic’s report suggests the club could be open to allowing their man to move on a temporary basis with the view to make that permanent in the future.

The US international knows Jesse Marsch well, having earned his debut under the Whites boss during his time at New York Red Bulls and reuniting when Marsch endured his short spell in charge of Leipzig last season. And Hay has said there is a ‘fair possibility’ that the midfielder will be coming to West Yorkshire.

Leeds’ intentions this summer have been clear, with two former Marsch players - Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen - arriving from RB Salzburg for a combined £35million, while a host of other Red Bull players have been linked with a move to Elland Road.

One of those is Salzburg’s Mohamed Camara, who has also been touted as a replacement for the departing Phillips. It is likely that Orta will only sign one of the two defensive midfield options, with focus also needed on other areas of the pitch. Despite potentially bringing in around £100million from the sales of Phillips and Raphinha, those in charge at Elland Road may be inclined to a loan signing which can be made permanent next season, if performances meet the standard.
