PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday directed the state government and the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) to file replies within a day in response to a writ petition filed by wife and daughter of Javed Mohammad alias Javed Pump, the accused mastermind of the June 10 violence in Prayagraj, against the demolition of his house by the district administration and PDA.
Hearing a writ petition filed by Parveen Fatima and Summaiya Fatima, the wife and daughter of Javed Mohammed, respectively, a division bench comprising Justice Anjani Kumar Mishra and Justice Syed Waiz Mian directed to list this case on June 30 for the next hearing. While KK Roy appeared for the petitioners, state's advocate general Ajay Kumar Mishra appeared on behalf of the state government. Earlier, on Monday the court had adjourned the case for a day when one of the judges had recused from the case.
According to the counsel for the petitioner, the house did not belong to Javed but owned by his wife Parveen, who had received it as a gift from her parents even before her marriage. He further contended that the PDA did not serve any notice on her. A notice, with the house number listed, was not addressed to Parveen but to her husband Javed, who was arrested on June 10 on charges of instigating violent protests against remarks targeting the Prophet.
