Well, this is awkward. The Liberal Party of Australia just got called out by none other than US internet legend Ray William Johnson — and honestly, it’s the kind of political TikTok drama you can’t make up.
So here’s what happened: Ray William Johnson, best known for us his YouTube series =3 and telling wild true stories on his TikTok, discovered that the Liberal Party had borrowed his signature video style-arrows, yellow dialogue text, the “So, this guy” intro, and all. And not just borrowed, but basically photocopied it and slapped it onto their own political content. Ray’s reaction? Equal parts flattered and bewildered.
As Ray explained in his now-viral TikTok: “So my wife comes to me today to show me some TikTok. And it’s this account that made a video in my style, and it starts with a split screen saying, So this guy, and it has the arrows and the yellow dialog text and the whole thing, it’s even got the ‘until’ — ‘everything was going well for Anthony, until’. So, yeah, it’s clearly a tribute to my video style, which is cool and flattering. You know, I enjoy seeing that stuff.”
But here’s where things get spicy. This wasn’t just some random TikTokker. It was the official Liberal Party of Australia account. Yes, the same Liberal Party that’s been trying to up its youth vote game with a TikTok presence that’s, well, let’s just say “inspired”.
Ray even had to Google them: “I had to look this up. They’re one of the major parties in Australian politics. They’re actually the centre right wing conservative party, which is not my thing, but it’s interesting to have a government affiliated account recognise my work, I guess.”
Then, plot twist: Ray tried to find the video on his own phone, but it had vanished. Why? Because the Liberal Party had blocked him. “The Liberal Party of Australia blocked me on TikTok, motherfucker, why? What did I do? I’d never even heard of you until my wife showed me your video.”

Ray went on to call out the party for copying his format and then blocking him so he couldn’t see it. “When you copy my format and style, which is fine, but then you preemptively block me so that I can’t see it when you’re trying to hide it so I don’t call you out, which I wouldn’t have done anyway. What kind of government political party are you?”
And in true Ray William Johnson fashion, he finished with a parting shot: “You know what the next election you guys have? I hope you lose. I hope everyone goes out and votes for the other guy. Because fuck you. That’s why.”
The Liberal Party’s TikTok account, for its part, is still up and running, posting videos with the same “this guy” format and hashtags like #auspol and #election.
No official response from the party yet, but if their strategy was to win over the youth vote by mimicking viral creators and then blocking them, it’s safe to say it’s not exactly going to plan.
