Following Eric DeCosta’s first draft as the Baltimore Ravens’ general manager, there has been a bit of a shakeup in the front office. The Ravens announced a series of personnel decisions today, including moving some responsibilities around and bringing on two new staff members. In total, the Ravens made 11 moves to reorganize the front office, either by assigning new roles or hiring outside the organization.
Baltimore added Nick Matteo as the Director of Football Administration. Matteo’s job will include day-to-day salary cap management and general roster transactions, according to the Ravens’ press release.
Sarah Snyder has been brought on as the Director of Sports Nutrition, per the press release. Snyder will work with players, coaches, trainers and doctors to coordinate diet and nutrition.
Joe Hortiz was the Ravens’ Director of College Scouting but gets an upgrade to the Director of Players Personnel. He, along with George Kokinis who was formerly the Senior Personnel Assistant, will oversee college and pro scouting. It was the title DeCosta had before becoming the assistant general manager and eventually general manager for Baltimore.
Former Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain is now in charge of providing support and education for current players as the Director of Player Engagement.
Ozzie Newsome has been officially given a title with the team as the Executive Vice President. While the title doesn’t really clear up exactly what Newsome’s responsibilities are, he’s largely been viewed as a consultant of sorts to give sage advice and assist where needed.
The restructuring of the front office comes as DeCosta looks to create the best team possible around him, the coaches and players.
