Ravens place G Alex Lewis on PUP list, DT Michael Pierce on NFI list

The Baltimore Ravens made several roster moves on Friday, putting left guard Alex Lewis on the physically-unable-to-perform list and defensive tackle Michael Pierce on the non-football injury list.

Lewis has yet to practice this offseason following a February surgery to repair his shoulder. Should Lewis retain his PUP status when the regular season begins, he has to be sidelined for at least six weeks before he can be activated. During that time, he won’t count against the 53-man roster. Lewis joins undrafted rookie offensive tackle Patrick Mekari on Baltimore’s PUP list.

Pierce is now one of four Ravens players on the NFI list, which the team usually reserves for players who fail to pass a conditioning test before training camp. Wide receiver Marquise Brown, linebacker Jaylon Ferguson, defensive tackle Daylon Mack and wide receiver Jaylon Smith were all placed on the NFI list Thursday, though Smith was removed from the list on Friday.

Pierce, a three-year NFL veteran, found himself in hot water last month when he was pulled from practice at Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp after the team determined that he wasn’t physically ready to participate. Pierce attributed his poor fitness to a lack of proper offseason conditioning.
