Just a few weeks before he shifted the balance of power in the NBA with a stunning move to the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard delivered an MVP performance in the NBA Finals and helped the Toronto Raptors capture their first championship. He opted against returning to the same squad for a chance to defend the title, but his performance in the playoffs will be remembered as one of the greatest individual runs in NBA history.
The Raptors paid tribute to exiting champions Leonard and Danny Green – who agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers – with a highlight reel on social media.
Raptors president Masai Ujiri also thanked both players in a statement.
